5 Ways To Pray Effectively
Praying can often be boring, make you tired, and can feel like you are getting nowhere! It would be so much easier if we could be motivated to pray. But there are ways to make praying a thousand times easier! Here are 5 ways to pray effectively:
1. Know What You’re Dealing With
What are we dealing with?
When we pray we are waging war with Satan and his demons!
His primary objective is to keep us from knowing Jesus and stop us from serving Him effectively.
Praying is one of the BIGGEST, MOST-POWERFUL ways you can serve Jesus effectively. So they will use your emotions and do whatever they can to STOP you from praying.
Ever wondered why you get so tired and bored when you pray? Demons can make you tired, sleepy, and prevent you from praying.
I have had this experience many times.
If you ever feel tired or just not motivated to pray, then pray before you pray! Ask Jesus to remove the demon that’s causing the tiredness in you. Because He can cast out any demon!
If you want to learn more about what a demon is, read my article here.
Know what you’re dealing with!
God is always listening to your prayer. It doesn’t matter what state you’re in. It doesn’t matter how much you “feel” God. He is always listening.
So when you pray, believe!
God is far less intimidated by your problems than you are. So have faith in Him.
Mark 11:24 says:
‘I tell you, you can pray for anything, and if you believe that you’ve received it, it will be yours.’
Having faith is the key to effective prayer!
James 1:6 says:
‘But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind.’
3. Don’t Think Too Much
Don’t think too much about what you are going to pray about or what order you pray for things. Just pray!
If you find it hard to concentrate, stop concentrating so much!
Pray about whatever comes into your mind.
Everything you pray about only comes into two categories:
- Thanking God for the stuff He has already given you.
- Asking God for stuff to change.
This is the only structure you will ever need: Thank Him, then ask Him!
As long as you aren’t asking God to help you sin or to harm other people…
Beyond that, THERE ARE NO RULES!
4. Be Comfortable
It’s important to pray in a place you find comfortable.
Find somewhere you can relax. Somewhere without distractions and where you can be alone.
Matthew 6:6 says:
‘But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.’
Praying is all about being alone and humble before God. The way you pray will be unique to you.
Pray in a position comfortable for you.
Some people kneel because it humbles them before God. Some people lie in bed and curl up under their duvet. Some people simply sit down.
You should never kneel or do anything because you feel you have to! Do it because it makes you humble before God.
Do it because it works for you.
5. We are Weak
God can’t touch a heart closed up with pride.
True, effective prayer comes from a humble heart.
So, before you pray, acknowledge you are weak without God. Acknowledge that you can’t even control your next breath without God!
If we pray with a heart of pride. What’s the point in praying??
Pride is saying you can do it better than God, so why would he help you!
But the power that comes from a humble prayer is unstoppable! It can split the oceans and the move planets!

Realize you a dealing with Satan and his demons who are trying to stop you praying through any means possible!
Have faith. Believe that your problems are like a speck of dust to God! He already has the answer.
Don’t think too much about what you pray. Just pray!
Find somewhere quiet where you can be alone and humble. But also comfortable!
Acknowledge you need God’s help.
