The Difference Between Your Soul and Spirit
People often use the terms Soul and Spirit like they are the same thing. They are in fact different parts of you, and the difference between them is MASSIVE! Here is an explanation:
P.S. I have started a series on my YouTube channel called ‘Testimonies of Titans’ that YOU can take part in HERE
1. Your Soul
The Bible says there are only two realms, a physical and a spiritual.
We are all aware of the physical realm because we live in it; we interact with it through our body, with the five senses. Your soul is what connects you to the spiritual realm; it connects our body to our spirit.
Your soul is also your personality, it is what makes you who you are, it is where you feel emotion, where you get your motivation, your ability to have free will and to make decisions. It makes you different from everyone else and gives you your uniqueness.
This is why it is so important to feed your soul with truths, not lies because they shape who you become.
If someone hurts you physically, it will hurt your body. In the same way, harsh words damage your soul because they affect your emotions and your personality.
Because of the way they link together (Body-Soul-Spirit), there is often a problem. Our soul might block our spirit so that it never reaches our body. This is because our emotions can affect the decisions we make in our soul.
There are three parts of you, and your soul is the one in charge!
That’s why Deuteronomy 4:29 says:
‘You will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.’
2. Your Spirit
You always experience your soul and your body. But your spirit is more like your communication with God!
All the power and life that comes from God, comes through the spirit. We need the spirit to connect with God. In the same way, the body needs the soul to connect with the spirit.
This is how they all link together.
John 6:63 says:
‘It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh is no help at all.’
That is why Christians read the bible. They want to feed their soul with truth and verses of encouragement. Like:
‘The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.’
‘Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles.’
Unlike the soul, to find out what your spirit is like you don’t have to rely on emotions or personality. You just need to read the bible and accept what is written there as truth.
But feeding your soul gives access to your spirit!
If we believe in our hearts that Jesus died to forgive our sins, God immediately places everything he wants you to have in your spirit. But we need to feed our soul with truth to access its POWER!
Everybody dies, but not everybody lives. Your soul is the key to connecting with the spirit, and only through the spirit can you truly live!
