How To Trust God
The Only Thing That Will Ever Complete You!
You may be tempted to believe… “when I get a certain amount of money, or marry a certain person, or succeed in achieving a goal, then I will be happy.”
People, including me, always want more stuff. We think that when we get more stuff we will be happy. The reality could not be further from the truth.
As stuff increases anxiety increases. People with messy rooms have high anxiety because they have so much stuff everywhere and the stuff doesn’t make them happy.
But don’t get me wrong. Money, marriage, and success are good things. BUT THEY WILL ONLY REMAIN GOOD THINGS IF YOU AREN’T CONSUMED BY THEM!
Meaning the more you get the harder it is not to be consumed by them.
Which is why many billionaires are the most unhappy people on the planet
The more importance you give to money, marriage and success, the less importance you will give to THE ONE THING that will complete you.
There is only one thing that will truly complete you.
That is a relationship with Jesus.
But why and how?
God designed us so we would need Him. He made you with a God-shaped hole inside of you. A hole that can’t be filled by anything else except for God.
The honest answer is I don’t know why or how God did this. I don’t know why or how God’s love for us is so phenomenal that he would CREATE us so beautifully, and then also DIE for us.
But you can let God fill the empty hole inside! It is one of the easiest things in the world to do.
Asking is enough. Admit you can’t feel complete on your own, and ask God to fill the emptiness inside.
That is enough.
I have experienced this myself.
I have been having a miserable day and decided to ask for joy and God has given me joy. I have been inexperienced and asked for wisdom and God has given me wisdom. I have been lazy and asked for discipline and God has given me discipline.
Matthew 7:7 says:
‘Ask and it will be given to you.’
The only reason I have been able to post over 40 articles on my blog is because I asked God for the wisdom and discipline to do it and he gave it to me.
Picture Jesus sitting there with you and see that in his hands he has joy, in his hands he has wisdom, in his hands he has peace.
All you have to do is reach out and take them. All you have to do is ask for them.
Psalm 145:18-19 says:
‘The Lord is close to all who call on him… he hears their cries for help and rescues them.’
Treat Him like you would treat a person you love.
Talk to Him like you would talk to a person you love.
Ask him for things like you would ask a person for things.
Like when you were younger, and you asked your father for money because you had none and you wanted to buy sweets.
Because Jesus loves you, he came down in the form of a person simply so he could relate to us as a person, suffer with us, and die for us in one of the most brutal ways possible. He did this so he could help us when we go through similar suffering to what he experienced.
Jesus is the best possible person to ask for help because he has gone through suffering 1000 times WORSE than you will ever experience in your life.
But every single person has to make a choice.
Do we ask Jesus to come and fill the God-shaped hole in our lives?
Or do we walk away…
