What Do I Believe?

What Do I Believe?

I am a Christian, and here I will explain what I believe. Without Jesus, Christians are like ducklings abandoned by their mother. They would soon die out. Because of what Jesus did in his life, Christianity makes up over 31% of the world’s population. So, what did a man who lived 2000 years ago, do, to cause this?

Here are the 3 main stages of Jesus’ life.

1. Jesus’ Miracles.

God sent an angel to Mary 2000 years ago. She would have been around 12 or 13 when the angel told her:

“Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favour with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus.”

Jesus was born in a stable in Bethlehem. The wise men and the shepherds visited him and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense and myrrh.

Jesus, the Son of God, had come down to Earth. But unlike everyone else, Jesus was perfect. Through his whole life, he never sinned.

He taught people the right way to live and performed a lot of miracles. These include calming a stormy sea, healing the blind, and raising a man from the dead. John, one of the disciples, wrote:

‘Jesus also did many other things. If they were all written down, I suppose the whole world could not contain the books that would be written.’

2. Jesus’ Death.

When Jesus was 33 he went to Jerusalem for the Passover festival that lasts 8 days. Even there he performed miracles.

Caiaphas, the Jewish high priest, was a bitter enemy of Jesus. He didn’t believe in Jesus’ teaching. Which is a problem, since Jesus is God.

The high priest brought him to an illegal trial in the dead of night where he asked Jesus if he was the Son of God.

“I am,” said Jesus. “And you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven.”

‘Then the high priest tore his clothes, “He has spoken blasphemy! Why do we need any more witnesses? Look, now you have heard the blasphemy. What do you think?”

“He is worthy of death,” they answered.’

Jesus was taken to another trial in front of Pilate, a powerful Roman governor. Jesus was sentenced to death on a cross, even though he had not committed a single crime or violated any of God’s laws.

3. Jesus’ Resurrection

A few days later Jesus rose from the dead! This represents the eternal life we can also have if we believe in him and have faith in him.

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

This is what I believe. If you don’t believe this, it is impossible to spend eternity with God when you die. If you do believe this, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain!
